I first learned how to throw at summer camp in America on a kick wheel. Since then, I have had access to pottery classes or studios on and off for more than 30 years. I have always loved throwing on the wheel, it is my meditation. I never really focused on surface design until I did my BTEC at Westminster Adult Education. I have travelled to the British museum, the Victoria and Albert and walks in the woods to gain inspiration for decorations. I am particularly drawn to birch trees and I love using sgraffito (carving the surface through one colour to reveal another colour underneath) to produce decorations.
Based in West London. I am a doctor and busy Mum of three boys. So I enjoy escaping into my world of pottery. My dream is a pottery studio on the island in Yeats's poem: Lake Isle of Innisfree
I currently work out of Hanwell Pottery.
